The metaphors

The language-games are of course part and parcel of my blogging scheme! The problem is that bringing that atmosphere back into this English weblog is rather odd. But I will give it a try and see what comes out of it.

I have been thinking about a rather complicated issue: 'Islam and Democracy'! Of course, when you mention these two words together, particularly in Muslim atmospheres, you may very quickly get a scornful response: they can never go together! No doubt a great number of our intellectuals from within this community of Muslims tend to resist the idea with utmost enthusiasm and fervor. Yet, I have good reasons to believe that under certain conditions Islam is compatible with democracy just is Judaism, Christianity and Zoroastrianism many conform to it.

I do not want to see apologetic on this, but as I have often said this, I always avoid absolutist opinions when it comes to religion. Apart from this, I never see religion as a mere theological force shaping the society. More than anything else, I tend to take note of the civilisational aspects of it rather than a rigid theological framework which diminishes and restricts the freedom of human mind. I also never deny the fact that religion it is very essence puts some limitations to the questionings of free reason; or rather I should say there is delicate border separating the two realms which at times causes great conflict and may lead into bloodshed even. I will revert to this issue again. Leave to be as it is now, but I do not see a rigid and irreversible disagreement between Islam as a religion and democracy as a system for governance.

But the main question is that if democracy is just a neutral governance system or there are some norms & democratic values which are not necessairely the same as the religion, more specially in 3 monotheismt religions! It's the ond debate between Form-content. I think democracy is not just a method, a governace system but it carries his own values, & sometimes in some conditions somme lectures of religions can participate it!
